A Love for Animals

Where It Started
Dr. Prescott was born in Memphis, Tennessee and grew up in nearby Germantown, but his childhood really happened on the family farm in Poplar Bluff, Missouri — feeding cattle, riding the hay wagon, working the garden, and raising puppies alongside the family bird dogs. Working at his hometown veterinary clinic through high school, and reading James Herriot, did the rest.
Education
He attended Oklahoma State University on scholarship with the Department of Agriculture, earning a degree in Entomology while completing his pre-veterinary studies, then went on to the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine. He credits UT's emphasis on small animals with the confidence he brings to helping clients and their pets today.
Small-Town Roots
Memories of rural life pulled him back to a small town. In 2005 he bought Watterson Veterinary Hospital and moved his family to Miami, OK. Whether he is treating skin problems or performing surgery, he enjoys going to work every day — helping the cute, furry, four-legged patients and the owners who have become life-long friends.
Personal Life
Dr. Prescott keeps saltwater aquariums — his current pride is the 120-gallon reef tank you can see in the clinic lobby — and shoots skeet. He shares a home with his wife Amanda, their three boys, two mini Australian shepherds named Noulli and Tipper, and a few head of cattle.
As a family they love fishing, swimming and going to the beach. They also enjoy a mean game of Chinese checkers, which, if you were to ask the boys, "Daddy always wins."
